VOX Cinemas reopened in Qatar on Tuesday, September 1 in compliance with government guidelines.

Cinemagoers in Qatar can look forward to an impressive line-up of must-see movies over the coming months, including the most anticipated movie of the year, Tenet.

VOX Cinemas has undertaken extensive precautionary measures and put in place an all-encompassing sanitization and physical distancing plan. During the temporary closures, VOX Cinema also conducted extensive research to identify the top safety measures that would make guests feel comfortable about returning to its cinemas and used the findings to proactively reimagine the guest experience.

Cameron Mitchell, Chief Executive Officer of Majid Al Futtaim Cinemas and Majid Al Futtaim Leisure & Entertainment said, “We are very excited about reopening our doors at Doha Festival City and having the opportunity to reconnect again with our valued guests. Cinemagoers can rest assured that we are exceeding recommended guidelines so that that they can enjoy an exhilarating big-screen experience with comfort and peace of mind.”

Mr Mitchell added, “We remain fundamentally confident about the future and resilience of the cinema industry. From our re-openings in other countries across the Middle East progressively since May, with the right health and safety measures and content, audiences are now returning to the cinema en masse. Following the release of Tenet, which marked the first big-budget theatrical release since March, total admissions at VOX Cinemas across the region increased significantly on the previous week. With an upcoming slate of back-to-back blockbusters lighting up our screens, cinema looks set for a major comeback and guests have even more reasons to return to the movies!”

VOX Cinemas will be operating at reduced capacity and adhering to age restrictions imposed by the government. Surfaces will be cleaned and sanitized regularly to ensure the highest levels of safety and cleanliness. It is also now mandatory for employees to wear masks and gloves, and all team members will have their temperatures checked on arrival for their shifts.

Safe distancing ambassadors have been introduced and instructional signage has been installed to guide guests on best physical distancing practices. Guests are encouraged to enjoy a queue-less experience by advance booking their tickets online or on the VOX Cinemas app. To further minimize physical contact and exposure, contactless payment options are available.

There are also extensive measures in place to ensure that the highest levels of food safety are maintained.

Employees are following strict safety protocols which include sanitizing workstations and countertops every 30 minutes and washing their hands at least every 20 minutes and before handling food.
