Al Arabi overshadows Al Rayyan with 2-1 in an exciting QNB Stars League’s second round of the match played at the spectacular venue located in Lusail City on Thursday, 11 August 2022. Among the 20,000 supporters that gathered in the dazzling setting of the stadium, Al Arabi fans rose as triumphant. The champion team undoubtedly relied on the match-winning goals from Al Arabi’s Youssef Msakni at the 12th minute and Mehrdad Mohammadi via a penalty at the 64th minute. Yohan Boli from Al Rayyan scored a goal in the 78th minute but
couldn’t lead his team to a victory.

Al Rayyan didn’t lose hope and made a comeback with Yohan Boli picking up a perfect cross to score to the right of the goalie. Fans were on the edge with Boli receiving a pass inside the box but had the ball rolling off his right arm. The referee initially called for a penalty but had an extended VAR check after which the decision was changed.

The breathtaking venue will be hosting the final of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 on December 18, 2022. The stadium’s design is roused by the interplay of light and shadow. Its shape along with the intricate beautifying themes and skillful craftsmanship is greatly inspired by the ascent of civilization in the Arab region.
