Al Wakra Public Park is set to open before the end of this year, with over 90% of construction completed, according to Al Wakra Municipality’s Director General, Eng. Mohammed Hassan Al Nuaimi. The park is part of Al Wakra city’s ongoing development efforts to enhance public amenities and recreational facilities for residents.

“The park is part of ongoing development projects of Al Wakra city to provide public facilities and recreational places,” said Director General of Al Wakra Municipality Eng. Mohammed Hassan Al Nuaimi.

Speaking on Qatar TV, Al Nuaimi highlighted the park’s various features, including jogging tracks, children’s play areas, fitness zones, and dedicated spaces for leisure. These facilities are aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles and enhancing community interaction. Additionally, several other park projects are underway within residential areas to provide natural spaces for relaxation and exercise.

Al Wakra’s green spaces have significantly expanded, with a 1,300% increase due to landscaping and tree plantation efforts across roads and public facilities. These efforts, according to Al Nuaimi, not only beautify the city but also contribute to reducing its carbon footprint and boosting biodiversity.

In addition to the parks, Al Wakra’s beaches have seen a surge in visitors, attracting over half a million people in the past six months. The city offers three main beaches—Al Wakra Public Beach, Family Beach, and Sealine Beach, the latter of which was developed ahead of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. More facilities, such as play areas for children and women’s zones, have been added to meet the growing demand.

Al Wakra Municipality is focused on sustainable development in line with Qatar National Vision 2030. Projects such as solar-powered beach lighting and a marine promenade for visually impaired individuals demonstrate the city’s commitment to reducing emissions and providing inclusive services.

The 500-meter walkway, introduced in May at Al Wakra Public Beach, is the first of its kind in the region. It features Braille signboards and is made from recycled materials, showcasing the municipality’s dedication to sustainability and community welfare.
