Amir Arrives in Athens to Strengthen Qatar-Greece Relations
His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani arrived in Athens on Tuesday for a state visit to the Hellenic Republic. The visit marks a significant step in strengthening the friendly ties between Qatar and Greece.
Upon arrival at Athens International Airport, HH the Amir was greeted by the Hellenic Republic's Minister of Foreign Affairs George Gerapetritis, Qatar’s Ambassador to Greece Ali bin Khalfan Al Mansouri, and Greece’s Ambassador to Qatar Ioannis Ioannidis. Several senior Greek officials, Arab ambassadors in Greece, and members of the Qatari embassy also extended their welcome.
Accompanied by an official delegation, HH the Amir’s visit underscores the growing bilateral cooperation between Qatar and Greece. In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis emphasized the importance of this visit, noting its potential to strengthen ties and contribute to regional stability.
“I am so glad to receive in Athens HH the Amir,” Mitsotakis expressed, highlighting the visit’s role in opening new avenues for cooperation. He stressed that the collaboration between Qatar and Greece spans various sectors, including energy, digital economy, infrastructure, trade, and investment.
The Prime Minister pointed out that Greece aims to enhance its position in the global energy sector, particularly in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry. By reinforcing its partnership with Qatar, a key player in LNG, Greece seeks to become a crucial corridor to the European energy market.
This visit is expected to pave the way for further development in bilateral relations and cooperation across multiple fields.
