Amir of Qatar urges Israel's return to negotiations to end the war
Hosting the 44th GCC Summit, HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani emphasized the vital role of GCC countries in addressing global challenges. HH the Amir made an official statement in his X account stating, "I welcome my fellow leaders and representatives of the sisterly countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council to their second country, Qatar, today to participate in our 44th Gulf Summit." highlighting the fact that it is "is being held at a time when our region and the world are witnessing great challenges in which our Gulf countries can play roles that contribute to resolving them and mitigating their effects."

Expressing concern, the Amir addressed the ongoing Gaza crisis, calling on the United Nations Security Council "to fulfill its responsibilities, end the brutal war, and compel Israel to return to negotiations." HH the Amir warned that the crisis faced by brotherly nations "pose a threat to peace"
He further stressed, "Our summit is held amid the continuation of the unprecedented tragedy and humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip." emphasizing the urgency of the situation in the region,
Regarding the international community response, HH the Amir addressed the situation, stating, "It is shameful for the international community to allow this heinous crime to continue for nearly two months, during which the systematic and deliberate killing of innocent civilians continues, including women and children," He added, "The principle of self-defence does not apply to the occupation and does not justify the crimes committed by Israel." in addition, he also stated that "We are constantly working to renew (the truce) and to alleviate the burden of our people in the Gaza Strip, but truces are not an alternative for a comprehensive ceasefire,"
As the summit concluded, the urgent call by HH the Amir for global action resonated throughout. The collective efforts of the GCC nations remain pivotal in tackling of ending the conflict and resuming negotiations for lasting peace in the region.
