Big spike in number of travellers, aircraft movement in Qatar in July
Qatar’s air transportation numbers continued to exhibit good growth in July, according to the most recent statistics recently released by the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA).
The aviation sector showed a huge rise, year-on-year, in QCAA’s preliminary air transport statistics for July.
The QCAA, in a post on social media, said the number of air passengers grew significantly — by 24.3% — in July, compared to the same month in 2022. It reported that Qatar welcomed 4.3 million air passengers in July this year, compared to 3.4 million in July 2022.

The aircraft movement in Qatar also saw a big 20.1% surge, compared to July 2022. QCAA noted that while 22,598 flights were recorded this July, there were only 18,812 aircraft movements in the country in July 2022.
However, there was a slight 1.2% drop in the amount of air cargo and mail in the country compared to July 2022.
While 195,244 tonnes of air cargo and mail were moved in July 2023, the same period in 2022 registered 197,576 tonnes.
Qatar has witnessed robust flight activities in the country this year. The added benefits of tourism activities, including the extension of the Hayya card system, helped Qatar boost its air passengers and flight movements.
Air transport statistics for June showed a 20.3% increase in passengers compared to June 2022. While May 2023 saw a 22.2% increase in air passengers, the number of flight movements went up by 16.6% as compared to the same month in 2022.
