Bollywood stars shine down at QNCC
It was raining stars this weekend at the Qatar National Conventional Centre (QNCC) where the music and dance show Entertainer no 1 dazzled audiences with stunning performances by some of Bollywood's finest.
This star-studded extravaganza, which took place during the thrilling F1 weekend, not only enthralled the Indian expat community but also drew attendees from various nationalities who gathered to savor the magic of Bollywood music and dance.
The event organised in collaboration with Visit Qatar and Qatar Airways once again underscored the immense popularity of Bollywood in the Middle East. It also aimed to forge a connection between India's exceptional talent and Qatar's burgeoning tourism and hospitality sector.
Entertainer No.1 had a spectacular lineup of performances featuring some of India’s top entertainers and actors including Shahid Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Tiger Shroff, Kiara Advani, Rakul Preet, Jacqueline Fernandez and Jackky Bhagnani. The event also showcased a mesmerising musical performance by the reigning Indian musical superstar King, whose rendition of the superhit Tu Maan Meri Jaan sent the crowd into a frenzy. The event was hosted by the ever-vibrant Bharti Singh whose comedic performance had the audience in stitches.
In an exclusive interview with Qatar Living, Shahid Kapoor said that he loves the vibes of the Middle East as the people are very welcoming. “It feels very warm and comfortable in the Middle East as people here love Indian movies and love to talk about the movies, so it doesn’t feel very different from back home. I love to do different roles where I get the opportunity, as an artiste, to give the audience new experiences and something that touches their heart. I believe in doing movies that are immersive for me as only then will it be compelling for the audience,” he said.
Shahid said he is excited to be in Qatar during the Formula 1 weekend. “Formula 1 is something I have been following on and off for a while now. Watching the races live is a very thrilling experience and with the Expo and so many other happenings, this is going to be a fantastic week for everyone in Qatar,” he added.
Rakul Preet Singh who has been to Qatar before, said that she likes Qatar better than the other countries in the Middle East.
“In Qatar you have all the facilities, the infrastructure, the restaurants, the shopping, the nightlife but it is way less crowded. What I love about Qatar is the proper balance between the state-of-the-art facilities and Qatar’s culture and traditions. I’m delighted to be in Qatar now, during the F1, one of the most anticipated weekends and to meet people from all over the world. I love Middle Eastern food like za’atar, hummus and baba ganoush and can’t wait to try some authentic Qatari food as well,” she said.
