Cabinet reviews annual report of the National Traffic Safety Committee

Prime Minister and Minister of Interior His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani chaired the meeting held by the Council this afternoon at its headquarters in the Emiri Diwan.

The Cabinet reviewed the annual report of the National Safety Committee for the year 2020 during its regular meeting held today.

Moreover, the Cabinet looked at the proposals and recommendations it contained and took the appropriate decision in this regard.

Established by the Ministry of Interior, this committee is responsible for setting policies and plans in the field of traffic and working to develop them, studying traffic problems and suggesting ways to treat them, in addition to coordinating and cooperating between the various parties whose work affects the proper orderliness and conduct of traffic, and proposing the development of legislation related to traffic, road engineering and transportation in accordance with international standards and commensurate with the requirements of the continuous development of roads and transportation.

After the meeting, His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, Minister of Municipality and Environment and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, stated the following:

At the beginning of the meeting, the Council listened to the explanation given by His Excellency the Minister of Public Health on the latest developments and developments to limit the spread of COVID-19 and the Council stressed the continuation of work with the measures and precautionary measures that have been taken in order to combat this epidemic.

Furthermore, the Council of Ministers considered the following topics as per the agenda:

After the decisions made regarding the Committee’s annual report, the Cabinet discussed the approval of a draft decision of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs regulating the provision of entry visas and residence permits to some groups in the State of Qatar.

The preparation of the draft resolution comes in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 21 of 2015 regulating the entry, exit, and residence of expatriates, and to replace Resolution No. (4) of 2012.

Thirdly, the approval of a draft memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the legal field between the Ministry of Justice in the State of Qatar and the Ministry of Justice in the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria.

Lastly, the Cabinet reviewed the following topics and took the appropriate decisions:

  1. A report on the activities of the Qatar Financial Center Regulatory Authority for the period from 4/1/2020 to 3/31/2021.
  2. Results of the 60th meeting of the Commercial Cooperation Committee in the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf.
  3. Results of the second meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Standardization Affairs of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf.
