‘Captains of the World,’ featuring Qatar 2022 players, to premiere on Netflix
‘Captains of the World,’ an upcoming Netflix documentary series that offers an exclusive look into the Middle East’s first-ever World Cup — Qatar 2022, released its first exclusive trailer on its YouTube channel on Monday.
The six-episode docu series, made in partnership with FIFA+ and produced by Fulwell 73, will broadcast never-before-seen footage from the tournament and behind-the-scenes action from various stadiums in Qatar.
From the dressing room to the pitch, this is the definitive story of the FIFA World Cup 2022.

The trailer is replete with several memorable moments from games of the Qatar tournament, as well as snippets from exclusive interviews conducted with many captains of participating national teams.
The notable names include Argentinian captain Lionel Messi, Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo, France’s Kylian Mbappe, England’s Harry Kane, Croatia’s Luka Modric, Senegal’s Kalidou Koulibaly, Wales’ Gareth Bale and Denmark’s Simon Kjaer.
Messi can be seen saying to the camera “We’re going to fight” in what he describes as a “tough World Cup.” Ronaldo adds that “everybody wants to win.”
Messi’s Argentina had bested Mbappe’s France in penalty kicks at the Lusail Stadium to claim the world’s most coveted football trophy. Messi also won the Golden Ball as the tournament’s best overall player. He then went on to win a record eighth Ballon d’Or.
Captains of the World will premiere on Netflix on December 30.
