Changing Qatar's school commute from Fuel to Electric
Ministers of Transport and Education, H.E. Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti and H.E. Buthainab int Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, launched a fleet of electric school busses at the Autonomous e-Mobility Forum. The initiative marks a significant step towards the Ministry of Transport's strategy for full electrification of the public bus system by 2030, in alignment with Qatar's National Development Strategy and the goals of QNV2030.
The event, attended by various officials from Qatar's transportation sector, highlighted the commitment to eco-friendly transportation. Minister Al Sulaiti emphasized that all buses in Qatar, including school and public transit vehicles, adhere to high environmental standards by utilizing Euro 5 and above fuel.
Under the direction of Mowsalat (Karwa), the electric buses will undergo a trial period during the academic year to familiarize school children with e-mobility. This educational campaign supplements MOT's sustainable transportation agenda, prioritizing environmental conservation for future generations.
Equipped with advanced safety features and cutting-edge technologies, the e-buses ensure passenger security and comfort. Features such as surveillance cameras inside and outside of the bus, emergency exits, and driver monitoring systems enhance safety protocols. Additionally, each bus incorporates automatic firefighting systems, GPS tracking and performance monitoring mechanisms to uphold operational excellence and passenger well-being.
