In light of the upcoming Shura Council elections, the first day for the registration of candidates witnessed a massive turnout at the headquarters of the Candidates’ Committee located in the Hall of Events at Qatar University.

The registration process ran smoothly and will continue until August 26, 2021, from 4 pm till 8 pm, with the final list of candidates being announced on September 15, 2021.

CEO of Manateq Fahad Rashid Al Kaabi was present and noted that the community will choose highly qualified people to represent them in the upcoming Shura Council.

Moreover, he stated that employment and youth participation will be one of the topics he will be focusing on for his electoral program.

According to Al Kaabi, the large turnout of people who intend to run in the elections is a positive outcome as he expressed the need for encouraging citizens to choose competent candidates.

Another prospective candidate, Fahd Al Jaber, pointed out that he will struggle for consensus between the Shura and the executive to serve the interests of Qatari citizens if his candidature is accepted and he becomes a member of the Shura Council.

On the other hand, the nominees have been asked to take advantage of free media services provided by Qatar Media Corporation's Media Support Committee for the Shura Council Elections.

Nominees can register now but will only benefit from this service from September 15, according to a committee member.

Furthermore, the registration process has been fairly simplified and will take just a couple of minutes.
