‘Clearly display list of prices of goods, services in Arabic,’ MoCI reminds commercial facilities

By QLNews

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has reminded all commercial facilities, retail outlets, virtual platforms and licensed home businesses to clearly display the list of prices of goods and services in Arabic.

When marketing or offering goods or services, these entities must ensure they prominently display prices in Arabic, with the possibility of including other languages, the Ministry underlined.

MoCI issued the notice yesterday, reminding these entities to be mindful of listing prices in Arabic, to ‘avoid legal accountability.’

The notice, "Pursuant to Articles 7, 8, 11, 17 of Law No. 8 of 2008 on Consumer Protection,” also draws attention to the punishment for violating this Law.

"Without prejudice to any more severe penalty stipulated by another law, whoever violates any of the provisions stipulated in the articles of Chapter Three of this law shall be punished by imprisonment for a period not exceeding two years and a fine of no less than QR3,000 and no more than QR1mn, or either of these two penalties," the Ministry stated.
