The General Authority of Customs, in a social media post, said a box belonging to the errant passenger was checked more thoroughly upon an inspector’s suspicion. A closer inspection revealed 2.7 kilograms of the contraband hidden inside wooden boards packed into the box.
Last week, Qatar’s Air Cargo Customs also foiled a smuggling attempt when around 200gms of cannabis was found wrapped inside chocolate candy wrappers and stored inside a package containing foodstuff.
Qatar’s General Authority of Customs has been warning people against bringing illegal goods into the country. The department is well-equipped with the latest screening devices and well-trained personnel who can identify errant passengers based on their body language, among other indicators.
