Did you know, Qatar ranked 4th globally in Economic Performance 2024?

The World Competitiveness Yearbook 2024, published by the international Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Switzerland, ranks Qatar 11th out of 67 countries, improving from 12th place in 2023. 

Qatar performed strongly in four main factors; economic performance (4th), government efficiency (7th), business efficiency (11th), and infrastructure (33rd). The country's competitiveness was assessed based on local data indicators, and a survey of company managers and businessmen. 

Key subfactors driving Qatar's high ranking include top global positions in unemployment rate, youth unemployment rate, and terms of trade Index under economic performance; first in consumption and personal income tax rates under government efficiency; and first in corporate board effectiveness and migrant stock under business efficiency. Qatar also excelled in energy infrastructure and internet user density under infrastructure. 

This 16th consecutive year of participation is a result of ongoing collaboration between IMD and the National Planning Council, Abdulaziz bin Nasser bin Munarak Al Khalifa, Secretary General of the National Planning Council, attributed these results to the visionary leadership of Qatar and affirmed the nation's progress towards the Qatar National Vision 2030.
