DMW Enforces 'No Placement Fee' rule for Filipinos in Qatar
The Philippine Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has restated its commitment to safeguarding overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) by strictly enforcing the "no placement fee" policy for Filipinos seeking employment in Qatar.
During the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas forum in Mandaluyong, DMW Secretary Hans Cacdac emphasised that recruitment agencies are prohibited from charging any form of service fees to workers. This policy aligns with Qatar's status as a non-placement fee labor-receiving country, as stipulated in Article 33 of Qatar Law No.14 of 2004. Any violations could lead to severe administrative penalties, including license cancellations.
Caccdac and OWWA Administratior Arnell Ignacio urged workers to be cautious of recruiters, demanding illegal fees and reminded the public that OWWA only charges a minimal membership fee. The DMW will continue monitoring compliance to ensure the protection of Fillipino workers.
