During the Asian Cup Qatar 2023, from January 12 to February 10, 2024, Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail) reported that over 6.46 million passengers utilized the Doha Metro and Lusail Tram. Of these, 6.22 million passengers rode the metro, while 236,000 opted for the tram.

The metro and tram played a crucial role in facilitating fan and visitor movement to and from stadiums and event activations. This was achieved through the provision of world-class transportation services, ensuring a safe and reliable travel experience throughout the tournament.

Operationally, the metro and tram networks completed 83,358 train-trips during the tournament, with 72,010 by metro and 11,348 by tram.

Throughout the event, 29 percent of spectators traveled to stadiums via the metro, while metro usage increased to 36 percent for stadiums within walking distance of metro stations.

On the day of the Asian Cup Final, the network witnessed its highest ridership, with 303,500 passengers, including 295,900 on the metro and 7,600 on the tram.

Additionally, Lusail QNB Metro Station saw over 115,000 footfalls, with approximately 53 percent of overall stadium trips utilizing the metro. Overall, the metro stations and associated facilities recorded a footfall exceeding 734,000 throughout the day.

Eng. Abdulla Saif Al Sulaiti, Chief of Service Delivery at Qatar Rail, expressed pride in the reliable operational performance during the Asian Cup 2023. He extended gratitude to the staff of both metro and tram networks for their significant contributions to the successful execution of the operational plan for the tournament.
