Education City Stadium to host ‘Stand With Palestine’ football match on December 15
A host of former and current football superstars are expected to come together at the Education City Stadium on December 15 to play a fundraising game to support Palestinians affected by Israel’s siege in the Gaza Strip.
The initiative, which is organized by students of Qatar Academy, has been named ‘Stand With Palestine.’
The match will pit two teams — named Qatar and Palestine — with each side comprising a mix of former and current football stars, said organizers at the Education City Stadium on Saturday.
The detailed line-up for the match, which kicks off at 6.30pm, will be announced in the coming days. Students from Qatar Academy Doha, Palestinian School, members of the Qatar national team and other international stars are expected to appear.
A team of five Qatar Academy Doha students is leading the initiative. While the opening ceremony will last 25 minutes, there will also be songs by Nasser Al Kubaisi, Dana Al Meer and Nesma.
The football match will feature two halves of 30 minutes each and will have an exciting drone show at the half-time break. While tickets for the game are available at Q Tickets, the match will also be beamed live on TV.
