Egyptian Mahmoud Trezeguet set for Al Rayyan move, says reports
Egypt international Mahmoud Trezeguet has arrived in Qatar ahead of completing a move to Qatar Stars League side Al Rayyan from Turkish outfit Trabzonspor.
After agreeing to terms with Al Rayyan over a summer move, the 29-year-old had been left out of Trabzonspor’s squad set to face Eyupspor on Sunday.
Trezeguet made seven appearances for the Turkish side this season. But after failing to guide them into the Europa League and the Conference League group stages, he opted to find a new challenge elsewhere.
The move will see Trezeguet end his nine-year stay in Europe which started with a move to Anderlecht from Al Ahly back in 2015.
Trezeguet also had spells with Belgian club Mouscron, Turkish sides Kasimpasa, Basaksehir, and Trabzonspor, as well as Premier League side Aston Villa.
He will now become Al Rayyan’s seventh summer signing after players like David García from Osasuna and Julien de Sart from KAA Gent.
The club also has several well-known players, most notably Sofiane Boufal, Rodrigo, and Thiago Mendes.
This season, Al Rayyan find themselves eighth on the league table after a disappointing start that saw them win just one from their opening three games.
