Eid Al-Fitr to fall on April 10, says Qatar Calendar House
Accurate astronomical calculations, carried out by professionals, have set Wednesday, April 10, as the first day of the month of Shawwal and the first day of the blessed Eid Al-Fitr, read an announcement from the Qatar Calendar House (QCH) and Kuwaiti Al Ojairi Scientific Center.
The crescent of the month of Shawwal will be born on Monday evening, corresponding to April 8, (the Crescent sighting day), at 9.22pm Doha and Kuwait time.
The crescent of Shawwal is expected to appear on Monday evening, April 8, at 9.22pm Qatar and Kuwait time. However, the crescent may not be visible at sunset on that day, making its sighting unlikely in Qatar, other Islamic countries, and the Arab region.
QCH said Eid Al-Fitr prayer will be held on Wednesday, April 10, at 5.32am local time.
The final decision regarding the confirmation of the crescent sighting, as per Islamic Sharia, rests with the Crescent Sighting Committee at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs.
QCH and the Kuwaiti Al-Ojairi Scientific Center are renowned centers in the region specializing in astronomy and space research.
