Final chance to visit, explore four museums and exhibitions free of charge

Today will be the last chance for art and history buffs to soak in culture and different viewpoints, at various exhibitions around the country, all free of charge.
The four exhibitions — A Chance To Breathe, Doha Fashion Friday (both at M7 in Msheireb Downtown Doha), Mashael Al Hejazi: My Mother Lulwa’s House (Barahat Al Jufaili’s Majlis) and Hadeer Omar: And Thereafter (Al Koot Fort) — will give a rare look into the minds of some very creative artists.
At the same time, today will be the last day of free admissions to all museums in the country — National Museum of Qatar, the Museum of Islamic Art, Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art and the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum — in honour of International Museum Day.
The ‘A Chance to Breathe’ exhibition will feature photographic works by Omal Khair, Dil Kayas, and Azimul Hasson, who have been documenting their lives and that of the Rohingya refugee population in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, since 2018. The exhibition will run from 10.00 am until 7.00 pm.
‘Doha Fashion Fridays,’ which is also open from 10.00 am to 7.00 pm, is a collaborative project initiated in 2017 by artists Khalid Albaih and Aparna Jayakumar. Their work consists of photographs and interviews of migrant workers having their off days on Fridays in Qatar.
The photographers have used fashion and Instagram to say real-life stories of hundreds of immigrants in Qatar.
‘Mashael Al Hejazi: My Mother Lulwa’s House’ exhibition pays homage to the social and architectural aspects of Doha’s historic area as well as the shared experiences and stories of the Al Baraha neighbourhood. The exhibition will run from 6.30 pm to 11.00 pm.
‘Hadeer Omar: And Thereafter’ converts Souq Waqif into a dynamic spatial experience that modifies three main areas of Al Koot Fort — The Transition (courtyard), The Journey (back room) and The Metamorphosis (entry room). The installation is open from 6.30 pm to 11.00 pm.
