Foreign workers’ remittances go down by 5.4% to QAR10.6bn in 2024’s first quarter
The value of remittances workers in Qatar made to their home countries decreased in the first quarter of 2024, according to the balance of payments issued by the Qatar Central Bank on Sunday.
The statistics showed that there was a 5.4% decrease in the total value of remittances, reaching around QAR10.6bn.
Statistics showed that remittances from foreign workers in Qatar during the first three months of this year represented about 31% of the current account surplus, amounting to about QAR34bn.
Expatriate workers constitute the economic backbone of Qatar. They are active in services, retail, healthcare, contracting, construction, and other development sectors.
