The National Sports Day Committee (NSDC) has published conditions and guidelines that all private and public institutions should adhere to while organising events to mark the 2025 National Sports Day.

The NSDC, in a statement, said all ministries, government offices, public authorities, corporations, and operating bodies, including the private sector, should submit their NSD plans by filling out a form on the official website www.msy.gov.qa.

The NSDC listed several criteria for the selection of events, the first of which is the exclusive focus on physical activities rather than flamboyant appearances of festivals. It underlined the importance of focusing on awareness-creating activities that advance the practice of sports as a daily healthy routine.

The committee stressed it was imperative for proposed sporting events to consistently involve all age groups by bearing in mind their health conditions, in terms of physical activities, as well as their duration to ensure avoiding stress and traumas.

The NSDC has addressed government ministries and agencies, all public bodies and institutions, alongside state-operated entities, including the private sector, on the importance of adhering to all conditions to achieve NSD’s intended goals.

The conditions that should be upheld includes avoiding the construction of tents and temporary sporting premises, with strict adherence to safety and security requirements during these activities. It called on maximum utilization of the country’s sporting facilities, parks, and public places.

The committee has also asked organisers to provide participants with healthy food options and to refrain from serving fast food. It also wanted organisers to avoid distribution of free gifts and free-of-charge food to the public.

Performance activities, such as concerts, should be avoided and replaced with exercises and physical activities as such shows could prompt the public to prefer them over practising sports.

“The NSD Committee is receiving applications from all entities concerning events they intend to organise nationwide. They will be further evaluated and promoted among the public. It’s important that such activities are held throughout the country to help a substantial number of community members practice sports on fields and public parks,” said NSD Committee Chairman Abdulrahman bin Musallam Al Dosari.

“The NSD plays a profound role in enhancing public health and physical activities. Qatar’s Ministry of Sports has launched a first-of-its-kind prize to mark the event, in pursuit of reinforcing positive competition among diverse institutions,” he added.
