Hamad General Hospital to Close for Two-Year Maintenance

Qatar's prominent medical institution, Hamad General Hospital, is slated for a two-year closure starting this September, as reported by Al Sharq Newspaper.
The shutdown aims to facilitate extensive renovations and upgrades, which will be carried out in phases to ensure the continued operation of outpatient clinics and operating rooms during the initial stage.
Inpatients will be temporarily relocated to Aisha Al Attiyah Hospital and the Medical Care and Research Center to ensure uninterrupted medical care.
According to sources cited by Al Sharq, the Hamad General Hospital development project, managed by the Public Works Authority 'Ashghal,' is essential to address maintenance requirements as the hospital is one of the oldest under the Hamad Medical Corporation.
During the closure, the hospital's infrastructure will undergo renewal, and enhanced safety and fire protection systems will be implemented.
The QAR4.1 billion development project, which has been in the planning phase for five years, aims to enhance and modernize the hospital's facilities.
Established in 1979, Hamad General Hospital is a 603-bed facility offering a wide range of specialized medical services, including trauma, emergency medicine, paediatrics, critical care, specialized surgery, treatment, laboratory medicine, and radiology services.
As of now, Ashghal has not released any public statements regarding the plans, leaving the public eager for further details and updates on the upcoming transformative journey of one of Qatar's most distinguished healthcare institutions.
