HH The Amir begins European tour with visit to Sweden
HH The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani attended a luncheon hosted by His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden on Tuesday. The banquet was attended by a number of top officials from Sweden and Qatar. Sheikh Tamim is visiting Sweden, Norway, and Finland as part of a three-nation European tour.
Earlier on Tuesday, HH The Amir met with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson at the seat of the Government ‘Rosenbad’ in Stockholm.
During the session, the leaders discussed bilateral relations and ways to develop relations in the field of investment, economy, energy, and international cooperation.
The session was attended by Chief of Amiri Diwan Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Minister of State for Energy Affairs HE Eng. Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi, Minister of Commerce and Industry HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Thani, Minister of State for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs HE Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater, and a number of other top officials.
On the Swedenish side, the session was attended by Minister for Foreign Affairs Tobias Billstrom, Minister for Defense Pal Jonson, Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Johan Forssell, Minister for Social Services Camilla Gronvall, and other senior officials.
Earlier, Sheikh Tamim met Swedish Minister for Foreign Affairs Tobias Billstrom at the latter’s official residence in Stockholm on Monday.
During the meeting, the top officials discussed the warm relations between the two nations and ways to further enhance them. They also discussed several regional and international developments, especially those in the Gaza Strip and occupied Palestinian territories.
Later in the day, Sheikh Tamim attended a dinner banquet hosted by Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, in his honor, at the Prime Minister’s residence ‘Sager House’ in Stockholm.
Sweden’s Crown Princess HRH Victoria Ingrid Alice Desiree and Speaker of Swedish Parliament Andreas Norlen attended the banquet. A number of high ranking officials also took part.
Early on Monday, Sheikh Tamim had been officially welcomed at the Stockholm Arlanda Airport, along with his accompanying delegation, by Billstrom, Qatar’s Ambassador to Sweden Nadia bint Ahmad Al Sheebi, Sweden’s Ambassador to Qatar Gautam Bhattacharyya and members of the Qatari Embassy in Sweden.
