HH The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani patronized the opening ceremony of the 2023 Doha Forum at the Sheraton Doha Hotel on Sunday.

The opening ceremony was attended by Kosovo President Dr. Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu, Senegalese President Macky Sall, Zanzibar President Dr Hussein Ali Mwiny, Jordanian Prime Minister Dr Bishr Al Khasawneh, Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, UN General Assembly President Denis Francis, GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi as well as several heads of state and governments.

The opening was also attended by Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Shura Council Speaker Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, and several other top officials.

During the event, Sheikh Tamim awarded the Doha Forum Award to Philippe Lazzarin, the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees.

The agenda and discussions of the 21st Doha Forum will be held under the slogan ‘Building Shared Futures.’

The hosting of the forum comes during a period of increasing disputes and conflicts, which have erupted in numerous places around the world, most notably the Israeli aggression against Gaza that led to large-scale destruction of the Strip and the deliberate killing of civilians.

The forum also comes at a time when the world is facing several other challenges related to energy security, food security, supply chain disruption, cyber threats, rising extremism, nuclear proliferation, effects of climate change, poverty, marginalization, and inequality in economic opportunities and quality education.

Doha Forum has always been known for the paramount issues on its agenda and the heavyweights it brings together to discuss ways to confront current and future challenges.

This year’s event will also feature policymakers, global leaders, and experts worldwide, shedding light on solving problems systematically and proactively.

They will also provide practical solutions that will achieve long-term sustainability and make the world a diverse and better place for everyone.

Participants will delve deep into analyzing a number of important topics by building on the success of previous editions, and opening the door to dialogue and enhancing discussion on the topics that include economic development, environmental sustainability, food security, artificial intelligence, and geopolitical dynamics.
