HH The Amir holds talks with El Salvador President, concludes state visit
HH The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani successfully concluded his state visit to the Republic of El Salvador on Wednesday evening.
Sheikh Tamim was seen off from the El Salvador International Airport by the nation’s Vice President Dr Felix Augusto Antonio Ulloa Garay, Charge d’Affairs of the Qatari Embassy in El Salvador Fahad Salem Al Marri and other staff members.
Sheikh Tamim held high-level talks with El Salvadorian President Nayib Armando Bukele at the Presidential Palace.
HH The Amir expressed his appreciation to El Salvador for the warm reception and generous hospitality. He also stressed Qatar’s keenness to strengthen and develop strong bilateral relations with El Salvador in various fields.
The El Salvadorian president, on his part, referred to Sheikh Tamim as ‘an important guest’ and hoped relations between the two nations would grow from strength to strength.
The two countries discussed strengthening bilateral relations in investment, economy, trade, law, and health. Views were also exchanged on a number of issues of common interest.
In a post on his official account on social media platform X, Sheikh Tamim said he was pleased to visit El Salvador and meet with his friend President Nayib Bukele. He said a positive atmosphere prevailed during the discussions. He added that they were looking forward to further bilateral cooperation and compatible visions on how to benefit from the great opportunities and potential of the two countries.

A high-level delegation, consisting of the Head of Amiri Diwan HE Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Minister of State for Energy Affairs HE Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi, Minister of Commerce and Industry HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Thani, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs HE Dr Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi, and a number of top-ranking members attended the talks.
El Salvador was represented by its Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexandra Hill Tinoco, Minister of Communications Sofía Veronica Medina Perez, Minister of Trade and Investment Miguel Kattan, Minister of Justice Gustavo Villatoro, Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Oscar Guardado and Minister of Health Francisco Alabi.
El Salvadorian President Nayib Armando Bukele also held a luncheon banquet in honour of Sheikh Tamim and his accompanying delegation.
