HH The Amir lays the foundation stone for North Field Expansion Project

HH The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani laid the foundation stone for the North Field Expansion Project in Ras Laffan Industrial City on Tuesday. 

During the ceremony, a documentary film showing the different stages of development of the North Field Expansion Project was shown.

The project is expected to help raise Qatar’s annual production capacity of liquefied natural gas from 77 million tonnes annually to 126 million tonnes by 2026. This will also help enhance Qatar’s leadership as the top producer of liquefied natural gas in the world.

Qatar’s Minister of State for Energy Affairs HE Eng Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi also delivered a speech during the occasion.

Following the laying of the foundation stone, HH The Amir made a tour of the project. He listened to the project’s objectives, the sustainable growth it achieves, and its meeting the local and international needs for supplies of liquefied natural gas and its derivatives.

The ceremony was attended by a number of ministers, CEOs, and senior officials from QatarEnergy and its partners in the expansion project.
