HH the Amir, President of Equatorial Guinea hold talks

To strengthen ties between Qatar and Equatorial Guinea, the leaders of the two countries met in Doha yesterday.

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo held official talks at the Amiri Diwan.

During the session, the two sides reviewed bilateral relations and ways to bolster cooperation across various fields, particularly in agriculture, economy, energy, investment, and transportation.

At the start of the meeting, HH the Amir welcomed President Mbasogo and the delegation accompanying him.

HH the Amir wished them a pleasant stay and expressed hope in the relations between the two countries to grow stronger in different areas.

President Mbasogo thanked HH the Amir for the hospitality, affirming his country’s eagerness to develop and consolidate bilateral ties with Qatar, in areas of mutual interest.

The two leaders also exchanged views on several issues of common concern.

Following the meeting, the Qatari Amir and the President of Equatorial Guinea witnessed the signing of several agreements and a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the governments of the two nations. These comprised:

- an agreement on mutual exemption from entry visa requirements for diplomatic, special and service passports

- an air services agreement

- an agreement to encourage and protect mutual investments

- an agreement on economic, commercial and technical cooperation,

- an MoU on conducting political consultations on issues of mutual interest.

Several of Their Excellencies the Ministers joined the talks session as well as the signing ceremony.

Earlier, an official reception was held for President Mbasogo.

HH the Amir also hosted a luncheon banquet in honor of the visiting President and his delegation at the Amiri Diwan.
