HH Sheikha Moza attends the opening night of the QF musical SHOWTIME!

Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation, attended the first theater performance of SHOWTIME! – a musical starring students from across Qatar Foundation schools.

The stage debut of SHOWTIME was also attended by Her Excellency Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, Vice Chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation, other key dignitaries, friends and family of the performers.

SHOWTIME! celebrates different renditions of some of the most loved Broadway songs that were performed by the students from Grade 3-12 of Qatar Foundation schools for the first time. The show is led by the creative team Steve and Jane Griffith and West End choreographer Christopher Piper, with music performed by QF’s Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra. The 3-day show has picked some of the best songs out of 20 of broadway's favourites including Hairspray, Oliver, Wicked, Annie, Mary Poppins and Matlida to name a few.

The project wishes to aspire the shift in the performing arts landscape in the country where students will be allowed to get opportunities beyond the classrooms. A documentary about the show’s creation has also recently won awards at film festivals at Cannes, London, and New York.

SHOWTIME! is being performed live till June 13 and tickets are now on sale.
