
HIA to open its expansion in October: Al Baker

HE Akbar AL Baker announced the opening of the expansion of Hamad International Airport in October as per schedule.
The announcement came during the Global Tourism Forums in Brussels, where Al Baker spoke on the readiness of the country to host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, with eight stadiums ready before schedule and Qatar's sports infrastructure excelling expectations.
Al Baker added that traveling through HIA's new expansion will make everyone's experience more exciting, ultimately resulting in the airport's capacity of hosting 53 million passengers.

In a recent interview, Al Baker said: “The expansion of Hamad International Airport is a vital part of the future success of the Qatar Airways Group, and of course of the country’s preparations to host the 2022 World Cup and beyond. It is also a strong sign that Qatar’s economy is robust and acts as a further economic stimulus, providing excellent opportunities for local and international contractors
Hamad International Airport will begin its final stage of expansion in January 2023, which will increase the airport's capacity to handle over 65 million passengers.
