Qatar, as well as other Arab and Muslim countries strongly condemned Israeli occupation forces’ shelling of the Qatar Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza (QCRG) headquarters on Monday.

Qatar said it considered the bombing as a clear violation of international law and an extension of the occupation army’s targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure including hospitals, schools, population centres and shelters for displaced people.

“The bombing of the QCRG headquarters is an extension of the policy of targeting civilians. The committee, through its projects, has worked to alleviate the suffering of the population in the besieged Gaza Strip due to the long blockade and ongoing aggression,” said Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement.

The ministry underscored the urgent need for the international community to hold Israel accountable for its repeated crimes against civilians and civilian infrastructure and pressure it to comply with international laws.

The Ministry also called on Israeli occupation forces to stop providing insubstantial justifications for targeting civilian facilities and health institutions while using misleading information.

Meanwhile, Arab and Islamic countries and organizations — Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Egypt, Jordan, the GCC and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation — all issued statements late Monday condemning the bombing.

In a statement, the Saudi Foreign Ministry condemned the ‘blatant aggression by occupation forces on the Qatari committee’s headquarters’ and expressed solidarity with Doha. They also urged the international community to immediately put an end to ‘violations committed by the occupation authorities.’

The UAE condemned the Israeli attack and emphasized the need for an immediate cease-fire to prevent further bloodshed.

The Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry also condemned the bombing, describing it as a ‘crime’ and a ‘heinous act.’ It also called on the international community to “put an end to these Israeli violations carried out under transparent pretexts and lies exposed to the world.”

The Omani Foreign Ministry expressed horror at the bombing of the Qatari facility and expressed solidarity with Doha and its work.

Egypt condemned the targeting of the headquarters, considering it a ‘new blatant extension of Israeli violations.’ It also expressed solidarity with Qatar against ‘this heinous attack.’

Jordan’s Foreign Ministry termed the bombing a ‘reprehensible war crime’ and said it added to Israel’s criminal record.

At the organizational level, GCC Secretary-General Jassim Al Budaiwi condemned the Israeli bombing, saying it was “further evidence of the brutality and recklessness of the occupation forces.”

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation also spoke strongly against the bombing, considering it within the ‘framework of ongoing military aggression targeting Palestinian civilians and civilian infrastructure in the Gaza Strip.’
