Italy international Marco Verratti joins Al Arabi on €45m deal

Italian national team player Marco Verratti arrived in Doha on Monday evening, thereby moving one step closer to a €45m move from French side Paris Saint-Germain to Qatar’s Al Arabi.
The 30-year-old is expected to undergo a medical in Doha today. The central midfielder, who had not been a part of PSG coach Luis Enrique’s plans this season, had been awaiting a transfer out of the Parisian side.
Although he was linked with moves to Saudi Pro League teams Al Hilal and Al Ahli, a deal could not be reached on time.
Fabrizio Romano, who tweets about football transfers before they are actually announced by the clubs, wrote an agreement had been struck with the Qatari side.

Verratti, who will turn 31 on November 5, joined PSG in the summer of 2012 after leaving Serie B side Pescara.
PSG had recently given him a new contract — which runs until June 2026 — but it lasted barely nine months.
With the move, Verratti will become one of the most high-profile footballers to join Qatar Stars League sides in recent times.
