Jaan Roose sets world record for longest LED slackline walk in Qatar
Three time world champion and renowned Red Bull athlete Jaan Roose, set a world record for longest LED slackline walk covering a distance of over 150-metres between the iconic Raffles and Fairmont Doha recently. The challenge was carried out on a 2.5cm wide LED Highline suspended more than 185 meters high on both ends of the two towers.
During the challenge referred to as ‘Sparkline’, the Estornian champion braved the winds and even performed a couple of tricks which included balancing upside down on the slackline and lying on his back halfway through the challenge.
Roose says in a video documenting his walk, “When I saw the iconic towers the first thought I had was, this is the building which I have to walk.”
Outlining the challenges he faced to accomplish the task, Roose further added that this slackline was different to the others he had previously attempted due to the set up and appearance.
At an elevation of more than 185 meters, the Sparkline walk is also Roose’s second highest walk to date.
The Sparkline walk took place as part of an action-packed calendar of global events in Qatar. With several key sporting events expected to take place in 2023, including Qatar Grand Prix MotoGP, AFC Asian Cup, Formula 1 Qatar Airways Qatar Grand Prix 2023, and Geneva International Motor Show Qatar, visitors can expect extraordinary sporting experiences in Qatar all year round.
