Mr. Khalid Al Mawlawi, the Deputy-General of Marketing, Communications, and Event Experience at the Supreme Committee of Delivery and Legacy, spoke to the media from the sidelines of a recent flag-hoisting ceremony. The ceremony was held to hoist the flags of the Republic of Iran and and the Republic of Korea after they secured their qualification for FIFA World Cup 2022. He revealed that the Lusail Stadium, which is touted to host the World Cup final is also all set to be inaugurated.

Qatar is gearing up its best to host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 as it awaits to welcome 1.5 million fans for the event. To be held from November 21–December 18, the football fiesta is going to be a hub of sports and cultural fanfare in less than 300 days from now.

Al Mawlawi expressed that Qatar’s readiness to host the tournament is commendable and fans are urged to enjoy all the offerings in the host nation. He also extended his congratulations to Korea and Iran for qualifying as teams for FIFA 2022. The Lusail Stadium’s infrastructure is ready and the venue is set for the inauguration, although the authorities haven’t decided on a date yet. All other seven stadiums have been completed and are ready to host, he confirmed.

Additionally, Canada, Mexico, and USA—all of which are the World Cup host nations for 2026 are vying for qualifications as they led the CONCACAF qualifiers final round, according to the SC official. Al Mawlawi highlighted that this was a unique opportunity to have all three nations in the football tournament. It would increase our country’s exposure to them and help in cultural exchange.

Until now, nearly 15 countries have qualified for the FIFA World Cup 2022 including the host nation, Qatar. The first phase of ticket sale began last months and fans have requested almost 1.2 million tickets within the first 24 hours of the sale going live.
