Masks mandatory at several commercial sites starting today

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) announced that customers and employees must wear masks when entering and staying at commercial activity sites. The decision will be put into effect starting Thursday, July 7, 2022.
These commercial activity sites include shopping malls, restaurants & cafes, souqs, wholesale markets, barber shops, beauty salons, health clubs, gyms and spas, entertainment centers & amusement parks, theaters & cinemas, exhibitions, conferences, and events.
In reviewing the Ministry of Public Health's report on COVID-19, the Cabinet decided to amend its decision from its meeting no. 19 of 2022, held on May 18, 2022, requiring citizens, residents, and visitors to wear masks in closed public areas, effective on July 7, 2022.
Taking the decision is part of Qatar's preventive measures against Covid-19, which are consistent with its efforts to preserve citizens' health and safety, and is a continuation of earlier decisions.

The general requirements include the following:
- A health status code must be verified in the Ehteraz application for all customers and employees before entering commercial sites.
- The commitment to wearing a face mask, except when seated at the table, within the restaurant.
- Every employee and customer inside the gym needs to wear a face mask, except when taking part in an outdoor activity.
- A commitment to preventing customers and workers from entering the commercial site without face masks and requiring them to wear them throughout their visit.
The MoCI emphasized the importance of adherence to health and safety measures by all administrators and staff across all commercial activities. Those who violate this decision will be subject to legal accountability and procedures, the court warned.
As developments in this area occur, the above decision will be updated and amended.
Furthermore, the MoCI has urged citizens and residents to visit reliable and reputable sources and follow the Ministry's official pages to stay up to date on the latest developments and stories.
