Masters Aquatics Championship - Doha 2024 to kick off today
The Masters Aquatics Championship - Doha 2024 will kick off in the Qatari capital city on Friday with the participation of over 2,800 athletes.
Running until March 3, the championship will feature senior competitors in different disciplines, including swimming, water polo, diving, artistic swimming, and open-water swimming.
The competitions are set to be held at the Aspire Dome (swimming and water polo), Hamad Aquatic Centre (diving and artistic swimming), and the Old Doha Port (open water swimming).
The swimming pools at Qatar University and Education City will be used for training sessions.
This is the first time Doha is hosting the Masters Aquatics Championship. It is coming close on the heels of the successful FINA World Aquatics Championships, which concluded last Sunday.
The first-ever Masters Aquatics Championship was held in Tokyo, Japan, in 1986. Since 2015, the championship has been held directly after the World Aquatics Championships, in the same host city.
