McDonald's Qatar steps up with QAR 1 million donation for humanitarian relief in Gaza
In a significant gesture of support, McDonald’s Qatar is stepping forward with a generous QAR 1 million donation for humanitarian relief efforts in Gaza.
A statement issued by Al Mana Restaurants and Food Company WLL states that McDonald’s Qatar is an independent company locally and wholly owned by Al Mana Restaurants and Food Company WLL and is 100 percent managed by Qatari businessmen.
McDonald's Qatar has also affirmed its commitment to backing Qatar Charity through its #For_Palestine campaign with the QAR 1,000,000 donation. This initiative aims to deliver crucial assistance, including food, water, shelter, and essential medical care, in order to address the fundamental necessities and mitigate the hardships faced by the Palestinian community in Gaza.
The statement also emphasized that McDonald's is an autonomous local company, operating with full independence in both social and economic responsibilities. It underlined that there are no affiliations or associations with decisions or practices made by other McDonald's branches worldwide.
This statement comes in wake of the McDonald’s Israel’s recent announcement, where they have promised to distribute thousands of complimentary meals daily to the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF). This has sparked wide-spread protest against the fast-food chain with many calling for a boycott of McDonald’s for supporting the IOF and not the sufferers in Gaza.
Meanwhile McDonald’s in Oman, UAE and Kuwait have also have expressed their solidarity with Gaza by contributing to relief efforts in the region.
