Mediator's meeting on Gaza conflict continues in Doha
Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari, spokesperson for Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, confirmed that the mediators' meeting to end the war in Gaza, which began on August 15 in Doha, is ongoing and will resume on August 16. Representatives from Qatar, Egypt, and the U.S. are committed to reaching a ceasefire agreement that would enable the release of hostages and facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid into the region.
Dr. Al Ansari emphasized that the mediators are steadfast in their efforts and are working tirelessly to bring about a resolution. He also highlighted the August 8 joint statement from the leaders of Qatar, Egypt, and the U.S which called for an immediate end to the prolonged suffering of Gaza's residents and the release of hostages, in line with the principles outlined by President Biden on May 31, 2024.
These principles were later reinforced by UN Security Council Resolution No, 2735, which encourages the international community's support for ending the conflict and addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
