The men who wrote Qatar’s name in golden letters on the Asian stage
When the 19th edition of the Asian Games kicks off in Hangzhou, China, on September 23, it will be yet another platform for Qatar to showcase its athletes’ successful journey in the world of sports.
Qatar announced a mammoth 180-member contingent for the quadrennial competition, which runs until October 8. Many Qatari athletes are expected to shine on the Asian stage and bring back laurels to the country.
After fielding their first team at the 1978 Bangkok Asian Games, Qatar has slowly but steadily progressed on the biggest continental stage. So far, Qatari athletes have won 43 gold, 31 silver and 46 bronze medals from 11 Asian Games appearances.
