Qatar’s Minister of Culture, HE Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Hamad Al Thani, opened the ‘From Qatar 2023’ exhibition at Building No. 13 of Katara Cultural Village on Friday.

The exhibition, organized by the Qatar Fine Arts Society, includes plastic works by 72 Qatari and resident artists from various schools, trends, and classical and contemporary expressive styles.

It also brings together creators belonging to various generations of the plastic arts movement, from pioneers, the middle, and the youth, who were inspired by issues of the homeland, society, and humanity, and expressed them in different artistic ways.

Artist Issa Al Mulla said his painting focused on protecting and preserving the environment. He said he recycled wood and old objects and turned them into materials. The painting reflects the artist’s special relationship with his social and environmental surroundings and enhances his role in preserving and protecting nature.

Visual artist and photographer Modhi Al Hajri said the exhibition, characterized by the participation of a group of Qatari and resident creatives, covered a diversity of topics, techniques, styles, and colors.

Al Hajri said her painting was inspired by traditional bearings, through a style that combines plastic arts and aesthetics of photography, and presented a treatment that belongs to the influential style of depicting near and far and merging the past with the present.

Artist Ibrahim Khalfan said his painting — The Will — touched on the educational role of parents in preparing future generations and transferring the love of the homeland from generation to generation.

His work uses the collage technique and oil colours on canvas. It brings together an elderly man and his grandson as he advises and explains to him the achievements of Qataris in the past and present.

He lists to his grandson the features of Qatar’s renaissance in various fields, and their ability to build, develop, and overcome obstacles and difficulties.
