Ministry declares online learning in public and private schools till January 27

The extension of online learning was announced by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education until January 27, 2022. Due to the prevailing pandemic situation and daily rise in the cases, this decision was taken.

Post continuous discussions and coordination with the Ministry of Public Health and other concerned authorities, as well as after evaluating the situation minutely keeping in mind the interest of community safety, the Ministry of Education indicated in a statement that it had decided, the following:

First: extension of the online learning system and deferment of attendance for students in all public and private schools and kindergartens till January 27.

Second: the administrative and educational workforce in public and private schools and kindergartens continue physical attendance.

Third: supplement tests for the first semester of government schools to start from January 18 to January 27, 2022, as per the formerly announced test plans, as well as main exams in private schools according to their academic schedules in school premises, while adhering to the precautionary measures established in this regard.

Fourth: implementing the physical attendance system for some classes and stages on an exceptional basis, keeping the school capacity at 50%, taking into account the interest of students with a commitment to adhere to all precautionary measures established in this regard, and these phases are:

  1. Secondary school students, grade 12 in public schools, and grade 11 and 12 in private schools.
  2. Students with special needs with disabilities, in public and private schools.
  3. Students of specialized schools.
  4. Attendance is discretionary for student and parents.

Fifth: physical attendance of children in nurseries at 50% capacity, given that it is optional for parents.

Sixth: following 100% attendance of students in universities and higher education institutions.

The Ministry urges students to comply with all the norms stated above as well as to devote sincere efforts towards remote lessons provided through the distance learning system. It also encourages parents to keep a check on their wards for the same and to continue communication and cooperation with the school administration and educational staff.
