Qatar’s Ministry of Municipality, represented by the Public Parks Department, inaugurated the Hazm Al Markhiya Park on Thursday. The inauguration came as part of its efforts to promote the quality of life of Qatar’s residents and offer them an enduring and healthy environment.

Eng Abdullah Ahmed Al Karani, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Services Affairs at the Ministry of Municipality, said the park’s opening underscored the ministry’s keenness to build exceptional public parks and gardens in the country.

“We want to make world-class parks that are also healthy and recreational destinations and playgrounds for children and families. The Hazm Al Markhiya Park is a great addition to the recreation facilities in the area.  Its strategic location will allow more visitors to enjoy sporting and recreational activities within a safe and secure environment,” he said.

The park, which is spread over a 24,000 sqm area, has around 60% of it (14,500 sqm) dedicated to cultivated green spaces. It is also home to 273 native trees and 421 shrubs, thereby playing a pivotal role in promoting plant biodiversity and enhancing air quality.

The park offers a designated walking path extending over 585M, alongside a running track measuring 671M in length. There is also an outdoor fitness area, spanning 85 sqm, for physical exercises.

There is also a 687M-long cycling path to ensure a safe environment for cycling enthusiasts. The park also features a 454 sqm children’s play area. It has been divided into different sections, for children under five and those aged six to twelve.

Other facilities — like restrooms, seating, and 44 parking spaces — make it an ideal destination for families and individuals. The park also supports environmental sustainability by utilizing eco-friendly lighting.
