MoCI announces easing of COVID-19 preventive measures for all restaurants and cafes in Qatar
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has announced that shisha services can now be offered in open spaces of tourist areas, in addition to the easing of COVID-19 preventive measures for restaurants and cafes in closed and open spaces.
MoCI made the announcement via its Twitter account last night, stating that the decision is based on the Council of Ministers’ meeting which took place on September 29, and is in line with the country’s plan to gradually lift the restrictions imposed due to COVID-19.

According to MoCI, restaurants and cafes with open spaces will be allowed to operate at 100 percent capacity as long as it procures the Qatar Clean Program certification. Other restaurants and cafés will be allowed to operate at 50 percent capacity.
Moreover, restaurants and cafes with closed spaces will be allowed to operate at 75 percent capacity assuming that the establishment has been able to procure the Qatar Clean Program certification. However, other restaurants will not be allowed to exceed 40 percent capacity.
The Ministry pointed out that all customers entering the establishment must have received all doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, with children under the age of 12 allowed entry only when accompanied by their families.
Furthermore, visitors will need to main a safe distance of at least two meters when visiting a restaurant or café.
