MoECC unveils Natural Reserves patrol plan
The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) has revealed its strategy to deploy patrols at meadows and natural reserves during Eid al-Fitr, anticipating a surge in visitors due to favourable weather conditions. The initiative aims to conduct inspection campaigns to ensure environmental compliance and visitor safety in these areas.
Qatar boats numerous natural reserves equipped with state-of-the-art measures to safeguard the local ecosystem and attract tourists. The government has established various nature reserves and conservation areas to preserve ecological systems.
Responsibility for the admiration of protected areas and wildlife preservation lies with agencies tasked with maintaining environmental integrity and proposing conservation policies and activities.
Aligned with Qatar's environmental vision, efforts are directed towards sustaining wildlife and fostering development, guided by an environmentally conscious society, for the benefit of future generations.
Qatar's protected natural reserves span approximately 3,464 square kilometres, covering 23.6% of the country's total area, including 12 terrestrial reserves and two marine reserves. Notable reserves include Sealine and Khor Al Adaid, which are pivotal in promoting eco-tourism and protecting rare species such as the Arabian Oryx and Gazelles.
The MoECC's vision underscores the imperative of sustainable wildlife management and development, championed by an environmentally conscious society, to ensure a promising future for succeeding generations.
