Qatar has always prided itself in providing its citizens and residents with a world-class healthcare and hospital system. The service and medicines often provided at heavily subsidised rates, have been utilised by hundreds of thousands of people over the years.

Qatar’s Minister of Public Health Dr Hanan Mohammed Al Kuwari reiterated her ministry’s keenness in providing the community with high-quality healthcare services.

“Qatar’s primary healthcare services have become more comprehensive, integrated, and consistent, focusing on health, disease prevention and healthy lifestyles to improve the well-being of the population,” said Dr Al Kuwari, on the sidelines of the inauguration of PHCC’s new Umm Al Seneem Health Centre. Qatar's Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani was also present during the inauguration.

PHCC Managing Director Dr Mariam Abdulmalik said work was ongoing to establish new Primary Health Care Centres (PHCC) and further enhance existing ones.

“While our primary focus is on establishing new centres, work is also underway to maintain and expand some of the current ones that are witnessing a large number of visitors, especially in densely populated areas,” she said.

After the opening of the Umm Al Seneem facility in Zone 56, the number of PHCC health centres in the country touched 30 — distributed across various locations.

The Umm Al Seneem Health Centre, located in Zone 56 and caters to people from Ain Khaled, Abu Hamour and Umm Al Seneem, provides all essential health services from 7am to 11pm, Sunday to Thursday.

Some of the services available at the facility are Family Medicine, Antenatal and Postnatal, Well Baby & Vaccinations, Women’s Health, Non-Communicable Diseases, Smoking Cessation, Communicable Diseases & Travel Vaccine, Dental, Maternal & Child Health counsellor, SMART health check-ups, Dietitian and Health Education. There are also specialised clinics in Ophthalmology, ENT, Dermatology, Audiology, and Optometry.

Qatar’s Public Works Authority Ashghal had announced the completion of major works of the Umm Al Seneem facility more than a year go.
