
More than 35,000 inspection drives conducted by Labour Ministry

More than 35,000 inspection drives were conducted last year by the inspection teams of the Labour Ministry. During the course of which, Minister of Labour H E Dr. Ali bin Saeed bin Smaikh Al Marri stated that 6,994 companies were reported for work site violations and nearly 2,509 companies for violations of accommodation.
As stated by the Minister in an interview with Al Sharq newspaper, the ministry performs a regulatory role on private sector firms, to follow up on adherence by companies with the labor law.
The Minister described that scrutinizing will be intensified on recruitment agencies, grievances will be followed up and resolutions will be found, as well as recruitment offices that have repeated complaints will be shut down.
He further clarified that the ministry is working towards launching a wide-ranging electronic system for all the services it offers and will be accessible soon to ensure prompt measures, especially for companies obligated to the provisions of Labor Law.
