Mowasalat bags first place at Dubai Award for Sustainable Transport
Mowasalat (Karwa), launched in 2004, has changed how Qatar thinks about public transportation.
The institution was awarded first place in the Initiatives Category (Outstanding Sustainable Transport Award) at the 2024 Dubai Award for Sustainable Transport (DAST), one of the world’s leading recognitions for encouraging efforts to achieve sustainability.

The award honours best practices and approaches that elevate environmental, economic, and social sustainability to the highest levels in the road and transport sectors. Mowasalat’s (Karwa) winning of the award underlines the company’s commitment to promoting innovation and sustainability in the country.
Mowasalat (Karwa), which beat off competition from 167 other entities worldwide to win the award, has successfully implemented sustainable strategies in the country.
The company aims to enhance awareness and drive positive change by adopting global best practices in sustainability and achieving international certifications that reflect its leadership in this field.

Our strategies aim to balance economic growth and environmental conservation,” said Mowasalat’s (Karwa) Chairman of the Board of Directors Dr Eng Saad bin Ahmed Al Mohannadi.
“We also seek to enhance operational efficiency and improve the quality of life for our community by adopting the latest technologies and innovative solutions that mitigate emissions and preserve natural resources. At Mowasalat, we believe in collaborating with all stakeholders to strengthen Qatar’s position as a global leader in sustainability,” he added.
