New beach set to open at western facade of Old Doha Port
Qatar, with its close proximity to the sea, boasts a number of beaches in different parts of the country.
A brand new beach is set to go up soon at the western façade of the Old Doha Port, said the authority responsible for the area’s development. However, a solid date of completion is yet to be announced.
Once completed, it will become one of the hottest new tourist spots in the country, in close proximity to hotels, hotel apartments, hundreds of shops, cafes, restaurants and services.
A walkway, an 8km bicycle path, a garden and a fish market are some of the recreational facilities being planned to come up next to the beach.
The Old Doha Port stands very close to other popular tourist attractions like the Museum of Islamic Art, Souq Waqif, the National Museum of Qatar and the Doha Corniche.
The area is already famous for attracting hundreds of citizens, residents and tourists during the evenings and weekly holidays. It also organises popular programmes during the Holy month of Ramadan.
The designs of Old Doha Port’s buildings — inspired by architecture at ancient Qatari coastal cities — are painted in delightful colours of pink, green, white, yellow, brown and blue.
