New factory to produce chargers for electric buses and cars in Qatar: Ashghal

The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with ABB Qatar to set up a factory that will produce chargers for electric buses and cars, marking the first factory for ABB e-mobility in the middle east region.
The arrangement was reached in collaboration with the Free Zones Authority, which controls the land on which the new charging device factory will be established.
Moreover, the MoU was signed alongside a contract for the delivery of electric charging devices for electric buses, as part of the Ministry of Transport and Communications' strategy to transition to electric vehicles.
The agreement calls for giving relevant cadres and students with the appropriate training to qualify them to manage and operate the new electric charger factory, as well as providing workers with the necessary skills and information.
In collaboration with Mowasalat (KARWA), Ashghal is building bus stations and warehouses that will be among the world's largest electric bus charging stations.
For the Public Bus Infrastructure Program, Ashghal will install 653 electric chargers and 713 inverters in 41 charging sites now under construction to support the fleet of electric buses that will run.
Furthermore, Ashghal will construct numerous electrical charging locations both inside and outside Doha, as well as all essential electrical utilities and infrastructure to connect chargers to electrical transformers and power stations.
The Ashghal Buildings Projects Department is building eight new bus stations and depots in various areas, including West Bay, Musheireb, Industrial Area, Al-Soudan, Al Gharrafa, Education City, Al Wakra, and Lusail, each with a capacity of 25 buses.
Ashghal is also building four large bus terminals at Lusail, Al Rayyan, Industrial Area, and Al Wakra, each ranging in size from 129,000 to 190,000 square meters.
Additionally, Ashghal will construct 2,700 bus stops along all major highways, each with air-conditioned waiting areas to avoid exposure to the sun and humidity.
