New short-term parking fees at Hamad International Airport
The Hamad International Airport (HIA) is one of the main gateways for entry and exit from Qatar. Thousands of people use the facility every day for their travel needs.
The HIA boasts thousands of parking spots for both short and long-term parking. On Friday, July 21, the airport enforced new rates for short-term parking.
As per new rates, a person will have to shell out QAR15 for every hour parked at the airport’s facility. While the first eight hours of parking will be charged at QAR15, a daily rate will be applied afterwards.
The daily rate has been fixed at QAR145. A weekly rate of QAR725 has been set for people who pre-book using the official form. Under the scheme, a person can park for seven days and only pay for five.
Short-term parking spaces are located on either side of the passenger terminal.
This is not the first time the HIA is adjusting its short-term parking fee structure. In the run-up to FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, the facility banned curbside parking and set QAR25 as the minimum charge for 30 minutes. QAR100 had been levied every 15 minutes thereafter.
The rates were revised and relaxed after the curtains came down on the global football festival.
Concessions had also been made in April-May this year, for ease of travel of passengers during the Eid al-Fitr holiday period.
